What a shame. The article says the "injury puts in jeopardy Battle Plan's racing career" which we can only hope is a worst case scenario.
Battle Plan, who lost Saturday's Stephen Foster Handicap by three-quarters of a length to Blame, came out of the Grade I stakes with an unspecified soft-tissue problem in his right foreleg.

On a dirt track.

They need to sort out their track, fast. There's been injury after injury, and a few weeks ago a giant hole suddenly appeared in the surface. I'm not feeling great about the Breeders Cup being hosted there in 4 months.

Excerpt:

"As hot as it was, the track loosened up dramatically, no question about it, and poor Battle Plan paid the price," said Stall. "It wasn't anybody's fault. It's just what Mother Nature does, like when the track got as slow as it did [at Belmont Park] on Belmont Day.

Little-known fact: Louisville and Cleveland are close enough together that Churchill Downs and the Cleveland Indians share the same grounds crew.

There must be some humor in there that escapes those of us that don't give a crap about the Indians.

We really going to use the injury of a 5yo with all of 6 career starts (never mind his dam was carted off the track as a 2yo) as a springboard into critiquing the Churchill Downs surface?

He would have been toast if he was running on sandwich bread...

If anyone has PP comments for any of the breakdowns or locations on the track of them, please post!

The stallion advertisement is a slam dunk.

Blue-blooded pedigree
World class frontrunning speed
Multiple triple digit Beyer Speed Figures
Raced all the way to age 5

The only one that trumps it is the City Place one with the "fastest horse I ever trained" quote from Kiaran McLaughlin.

City Place never raced.
