I just finish reading his bio....Sad story...Did anyone on this forum know Stu Ungar and if so do you have a story to share?
It was said he was the greatest gin rummy....AT 10 years old..3 for 3 in WSP play...
I looked up on youtube his last WSP win..he hardly had any nose left...

i knew stu from years ago in vegas. he was a great card player, i was in a gin rummy tournamet one year at the sahara hotel and casino wher i beat him in a preliminary round in a gin=rummy tournament. we bet $200 on the side in a game to 200. i used to watch him bet horses in different race books. it always took about 5 minutes for the bettaker to count the money he plucked down back then before parimutual wagering in nevada.

For a solid movie about Ungar's life, check out "High Roller" with Michael Imperioli. It's pretty honest about his struggles and the gambling life, and I highly recommend it for a learning experience.
