Every track is different and it varies on the different surfaces (main track vs. turf cours) and distances (sprint vs. routes).

I believe gates 5-8 are usually on the "crown" of the track!

i think you need a measure to offset the 4-7 horse field size

like list based on field and post so....

4 horse field {262 plays}
win% / place% / show% / average win place show payoffs / Roi win place show /
post 1 blah blah blah
post 2 blah blah blah
post 3
post 4

you get it.

That will provide you with more meaning to the data.

If you really wanted to make this a main project then separate all that by the track, distance, and surface.

Otherwise you will have a bunch of data with very little help to whatever goal you are trying to reach. Basicaly you will waste a whole bunch of time to find out absolutely nothing. :faint:

You need to do a seperate study at your track for each distance, you can't lop sprints all together in one study it has to be one for each seperate distance. Also very important to check out the beginning of a meet compared to the past years or few years of data. If the surface has been redone you might have a totally different outcome. Another thing to look for is a bad gate before others catch on and the error is corrected. Years ago there was a gate that opened a hair slower than the others, it went undetected for the whole meet. Not one horse won from that gate. Yet when you look at the track stats it was not detected because they lopped the sprints together even though the 6 1/2 and 6 furlong races used different starting gates. Something to think about.

The Daily Racing Form usually has it for the tracks that I play.
