Has anyone ever actually tried this method in this book? Someone gave it to me and I was going to read it, but after reading just a bit, it seems quite jumbled and confusing.

As I recall, there is a workout in that book and one item carries the entire study.

Actually he's saying bet longshots above certain odds groups and then gives a lot of rules to weed out obvious losers. Then he gives a bunch of charts for betting; which essentially is a due column method of betting.

So with that being said, in your opinions, is it worth spending the time to read it?

SQ,

No.

1/2 star (out of 5) for an advanced player. It is one of the few handicapping books I actually gave away from my collection.

Frankly, the title itself sort of challenges you to take it seriously..

The answer to this question in my mind is from a Steve Martin punchline in one of his comedy bits.

Here is how to become rich: .OK, first get a million dollars....

I think I am going to write a more realistic system titled

"The Reality Handicapping System: Scrounge to make daily profits by doing sound handicapping, wagering wisely, showing patience and letting no emotion affect your game"

You think I would sell 1 copy?

I think the entire book is a paper workout. I know there was an automatic SAMS method which used the toteboard and you only bet so many horses down from 50/1. Due column wagering is what its all about and we know before that big hit comes in you can be in deep mashed potatoes, especially playing long shots.

Timtam:
I have a friend who plays trifectas and exactas......he has been toying with a "due column system"............I tried to talk him out of it.
Seems that one could go through a long streak of losers trying to hit trifectas/exactas?
This man is a math major............

so.cal.fan, yep, pirate all you want.
2nd point about your friend, "the due col. is very seductive and i've played around with it myself with some success. Most of my success with it came when I was single and had a fairly large BR and no fear. But tell your friend to play with it on paper for a long time before he tries it with real money.
