Man Charged With Child Porn After Memory Card Found
Suspect Arrested Friday By ICE Agents
GREENBELT, Md. - WBALTV.com
A memory card left behind at a southern Maryland convenience store led to a man being arrested on child pornography charges.
Scott Smallwood, 27, of Upper Marlboro, was charged with producing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Monday. Authorities said he was a bus driver in the Prince George's County school system.
According to court documents, a customer at a 7-Eleven store on Coventry Way in Clinton found a microSD card on the checkout counter on March 15.
The clerk said the memory card didn't belong to him, so the customer took it home, viewed its contents and discovered several videos of a man "engaging in sexually explicit conduct with a little boy," according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Within an hour of watching the videos, the customer contacted the Prince George's County Police Department and informed officers of the content.
Police obtained the memory card, along with store surveillance tape recorded at the time the card was found.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents analyzed the card and worked with police to identify the minor in the videos, as well as the suspect.
