Excerpt:

The California Horse Racing Board awarded the Oak Tree Racing Association on Thursday its dates for the traditional fall meet although whether it will take place at Santa Anita Park or another racetrack in the region is still unknown.

MI Developments, which is chaired by Canadian mogul Frank Stronach, recently voided its contract with Oak Tree after it acquired the race track from Stronach's Manga Entertainment Corp (MEC) through federal bankruptcy proceedings.

"We were awarded our dates for this year by the CHRB, wherever we want to run it," said Sherwood Chillingworth, Oak Tree's director and executive vice president. "If we can't make a deal with Santa Anita...we can take our dates and run them in Hollywood or Del Mar."

The CHRB/Oak Tree news is really no news. SA and Oak Tree's positions are unchanged since yesterday and its my guesstimate that the deal to hold Oak Tree at SA will be resolved fairly quickly. Magna/Oak Tree are scheduled for a meeting to discuss the new contract on 6/04/2010.

With the announcement that George Haines has replaced Ron Charles things should flow pretty smoothly. Here's a 2007 video of the who/what of George Haines' background. He's old school Santa Anita and knows all the players.

edit- I believe the meeting is actually June 4.

If you met Stronach, and I came very close to him once in the turf club, nobody argues with the man, one must be a yes man or your gone.

He has little patience in meeting or long talks, he issue orders and he is outer of here. He moves at a very fast pace.
