That was cool!

An old friend of mine (who was a dog handler in Viet Nam) became a K-9 trainer in Reno back in the '70s. In his dog's first real test, a guy was pulled over and the old Mount Rose Highway (back when there were no houses). The guy made a break for it, running into the brush on a moonless night.

So, the K-9 unit comes out and they turn the dog loose. He searches for about 15 minutes and cannot pick up a scent. The handler is about to give up when the dog stops to take a whiz on a big tumbleweed. The handler hears a loud, "Oh shit" from behind the bush - seems the dog accidently picked the fugitive's bush to pee on!

I guess the dog went on to be a legend in the county but his first collar was quite by accident.
