A closer look, though, shows the horse was due to carry 111.
It's been quite some time since KD could ride that light.

116 is par for him, so the connections should have chosen a lighter jock, if they cared about the weight at all.

I'll never understand why owners continue to use these jocks who can' tmake the listed weight. There has to be a jock out there who can make 111. Even if he's not as experienced as KJD, its better to have the 5 lbs i believe, especially in a long distance race with young horses.

When Kent first started riding, he was named on a horse with the weight listed at 98 lbs. They still had to add lead to his saddle for him to make that weight. Not something that you see very often, even with the 5 lb apprentice allowance. :p
