To watch and see what a real horse can do, tune into the program on NBC that airs before the Preakness Stake. It's a review of this year's Rolex Kentucky 3 Day event, a four star, or, international level competition. The most popular and dangerous phases is day 2, the cross country event which is actually four different segments: roads and tracks (1), steeplechase jumps, roads and tracks (2), cross country jumps. The excitement and danger is the cross country phase. Watch and be amazed at what a horse can do -- and, the horses do this while never having seen the coarse or obsticles before. The riders will have walked the coarse many times but the horses compete over the coarse never having seen the obsticles before.

The competition takes place over three days, each team of horse and rider competing one at a time with scoring derived from a point system. Day 1 is dressage or the equivalent to the first part of an ice skating competition where a mandiatory test is performed by all competitors. Day 2 is the cross country phase described above. Day 3 is stadium jumping which by itself is not a push over but, a day after the cross country jumping, is a real test of conditioning and training of the horse.
