Can a good horse win the TC?With all the near misses in recent pass...does the horse have to be great?

If Super Saver wins today and goes on to win the Belmont can he be consider a great horse?
Or SS just peaked at the right time?
Theres ONLY BEEN 11...and all 11 were GREAT HORSES!

It takes a great horse to win the Triple Crown, regardless of the relative quality of the horses defeated in the process. Three races, three different tracks, three distances none have tried before, and all in six weeks.

It takes a special combination of horse, trainer and jockey to get it done, but no matter how good the second two are, it all starts with a great horse.

How the horse in ranked amongst the all-time-greats is another story. Competition and overall record will have something to say about that.
