What does this mean? Are they going to negotiate something else? Is MID going to run a Fall meet without Oak Tree? Where does this leave the BC permanent home thing?

They way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if Frankie just said the hell with it..........and closes Santa Anita. He is taking some serious bad press in the Baltimore area this week. I mean it. Everything from being called a fool to being called out on several issues that allege fraud etc.

He couldn't get a taxi in MD right now..........

I going to tell you what will happen, with oak tree gone, the boss will change back to a dirt track and try to grab the Breeder Cup Races

I'm not sure of that. Stronach made a point of noting that he went with any other synthetic than poly just so certain people in Lexington wouldn't be making a profit off him. Those same people run the BC. Since the BC makes no money for the track which hosts it, Stronach may not want it, but may instead want to throw a monkeywrench in the BC's plans.

MI will be looking for another organization to make them more money. If oak Tree wants back in, give MI more money.

I wonder if Hollywood Park will get the extra days, perhaps even run the Oak Tree dates at SA and then their own fall meet?

Just a thought....who knows?

Here is another thought

With Oak Tree gone, Hollywood Park going, Stonach will take all the racing dates available, however, I think he if he can, he will make a play for Del Mar if the their lease is not extended by the State.

The L.A. Times version...

Excerpt:

Mills indicated that the Chapter 11 reorganization of Stronach's company was an opportunity to start over, rather than "defend the status quo, which is defending the decline of the business." As one example of that decline, he cited the 2006 California Horse Racing Board mandate that its thoroughbred tracks install synthetic racing surfaces.

"At Santa Anita, that's $25 million later," he said. "And now, nobody wants the stuff."

This is going to get interesting.

Every person mentioned in the article is a dolt of epic proportions. Dolts all trying to out-dolt each other. CA racing and the BC are in great shape. :bang:

If you go back to how this started (Oak Tree) you will realize that it (the charity proceeds) was simply a ruse to get more racing days allotted to SoCal. Sure some charities got some dough....after all the fat cats, horse people, track employees, etc. got their piece. Then Hollywood said "wait a minute" how about we have a fall meet to balance out the extra days allocated to SA (DBA Oak Tree). So Hollywood got their fall meet and bingo there was year-round racing in SoCal.

I have no idea when Hollywood might pull the plug on racing there and I doubt that Stronach does either. But, this move of cancelling the Oak Tree lease gives him flexibility to push the Oak Tree days out of the way of stuff that might go directly to Santa Anita when/if Hollywood pulls the plug.

Rumors around Hollywood Park today was that Stronach will keep Chillingsworth on to run the Oak Tree Meet, it will just be Santa Anita getting the profits.
Also, Frank S. is looking to make a deal with developer for some of the parking lot, which Frank wants to build on.

Again, who knows, but the bottom line today was the Oak Tree dates will still continue to be run at Santa Anita.
