Being fairly young, I do not remember much of Phil Georgeff. The only call of his I had heard until recently was his call of Dr. Fager's world record mile in 1968. In that video, he seems to have an older, gravelly sounding voice. However, I stumbled across the 1981 Arlington Million the other day, and he sounds a lot younger and almost like a different person. My question is, did his announcing style/voice change as he got older or is the 1968 video one of poor quality, making his voice sound different than his 1981 voice? I have to say that both calls are great, especially the Arlington Million. Thanks for your help.

I heard him call races live from the early 60's(when I was a young kid) to his retirement. His style and tone never changed. I've heard the Dr. Fager call-just a poor recording like most from the 60's.

Thanks. The few calls I have heard from him are spectacular.

The crowd noise was"real" then too-not canned like today.
