Goodbye, Arena District. Hello, West Side.
By a whopping margin, Ohio voters yesterday agreed to move the site of the Columbus casino from its original location on West Nationwide Boulevard to an economically struggling area six miles to the west.
Voters also resoundingly approved Issue 1, the other statewide issue on Tuesday's ballot, to renew the Ohio Third Frontier program for attracting high-tech jobs.
Issue 2 was passing with 69 percent of the vote. It needed a majority statewide because, like the 2009 ballot measure that legalized casinos in four cities, it amends the Ohio Constitution. The casino-relocation measure was ahead with 82 percent of the vote in Franklin County.
