In my opinion the main cause of horse racing’s recent decline is the racing of 2yr olds.
Yeah, I know that the racing of 2yr olds has long been part of the sport. But it seems that more and more are finding their way to the track and, due to promoters such as the Breeder’s Cup, more and more are being stretched beyond their limits.
Who was the last 2yr old Champion to win a Triple Crown race. Better yet who was the last 2yr old Champion to compete in a Triple Crown event.
Over the last decade, how many promising 2yr olds saw their career’s end before the reached the age of three?
