It's a tough year, but American Lion is my top choice followed by Discreetly Mine. I will be using both exensively, mostly in exactas, although a triple keying both is manageable. Here's my oddsline for the top contenders and the field:

American Lion: 4/1
Discreetly Mine: 5/1
Mission Impazible: 7/1
Awesome Act: 11/1
Sidney's Candy: 11/1
Lookin At Lucky: 11/1
Dublin: 19/1
Ice Box: 24/1
Noble's Promise: 24/1
Field: 6/1

Then he must have had that 30mph wind at his back down the backstretch right?...4f in 49.2 to 6f in 1:13.2 is a 24 sec quarter, errrrrrrrrr, a 24 sec WIND AIDED quarter right?

Look, I like Am Lion for the exotics, but making a case based partly on a stretch run into a headwind is reachin a bit in my book.

Doesnt that track have a sort of downslope at some pt. in the backstretch? Or did they eventually resurface the thing? I thought I had read about this somewhere although no one was saying exactly where that part was. Have seen some odd fractions on the turn..

I made the selection before even knowing this. Truthfully, horses on the lead going into a headwind have a big advantage as it is harder to close ground into the wind.
The stretch headwind experience might have been very good as a stepping stone towards a peak mile and a quarter race as far as fitness is concerned.
