And they say thunder showers...which means lightning...many races have been scratched because of lightning...now that would be a nightmare!

They issued a flash flood watch this afternoon for Saturday and Sunday with 1-2 inches of rain likely Saturday.

The rain is supposed to begin in earnest after midnight Saturday morning, get heavier as time goes along Saturday morning (including the risk for strong storms), and then lighter rain continuing Saturday afternoon and evening.

Sounds like heavy goo for the Derby?

If the Derby wasn't hard enough to handicap....

Box the horses that showed anything at all on a wet surface.

Actually, unless it's a nice summer shower...horses don't care for the rain, especially if it's a hard rain and if there is wind...first thing they want to do is turn their back into the rain...given the chance...they'll head for cover just like most living things...except Ducks:D

PS...speaking of the weather...it's 30 degrees where I live and snowing like a SOB...and my husband is out there in the crop fields...irrigating:eek:

Wanna know who might "move up" in the mud?'

Forecast now saying heaviest rain in the afternoon; 1-2 inches expected during the day tomorrow. Not good. I'm wondering how many horses will scratch because the trainers don't want their horses getting mucked up. You gotta figure Sidney's Candy is not made for this stuff, since he has all synthetic experience.

I'm sure they're going to seal the track after the races today.

With the weather looking so bad tomorrow do the "super seal" it?

So you're saying,

And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, and it's a hard
It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall.

It's 2:40 a.m. - Metro Louisville is just outside of a new tornado watch that has just been issued until 8 a.m. for parts of Indiana and Kentucky.

This is obviously shaping up to be quite a serious situation as this line of storms that is rolling in has been dumping copious amounts of rain across Arkansas, Missouri, and Illinois and has been producing tornadoes and other severe weather.

I don't know that we've faced a situation like this before on Derby Day where there is a strong likelihood we're going to be dealing with thunderstorms, not just heavy rain.
