Hi, just joined the forum here so this is my first post. A little about myself, I've been betting horses as a hobby since 1987. My father got me into racing at a very young age and then the Sunday Silence / Easy Goer battles made me a fan for life. I'm also an avid poker player. I am not a professional gambler... I work full time as a Network Analyst for a Fortune 500 Company.

My question about quick picks... I live in NJ. I handicap, however my wife used to like placing $20 tri / super 'quick-picks' (only in the Derby) because of all the longshots and high payouts in this race. None of the tracks by me do quick picks anymore... I'm thinking it's because of the Big Brown glitch(?) Does anyone know if the OTB's in NYC do quick picks? Are they different machines?

The quick-pick controversy, for anyone not aware, was someone bought 1300 Superfecta quick picks (dumb!) for the Derby that Big Brown won, however, the #20 horse (big brown) was not on 1 single QP ticket. An investigation found that Scientific Games was leaving off the last horse of every race in quick picks and there is a lawsuit pending, etc. But I thought that was only in Cali...

This post is getting lengthy... Anyone know what I'm talking about or can add more info here? Basically I'm looking to buy some Superfecta quick picks for my wife and in hopes that she binks $800,000 on a sloppy track :)

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies!

Why not take out 4 dice and roll 'em using 1 through 4 per roll.
They'd give you all the quick picks you need.

Your local game/hobby/nerd/comic book store might have some 20-sided dice which are/were commonly used for fantasy games....

Check out the following site.

http://www.random.org/

It has a random number generator on the right hand of the screen.
Set the parameters between minimum 1 and maximum 20.
Press generate and a number will pop up randomly. Repeat for as many numbers as you want.

thx for the RNG... I guess I'll do it the long way. I was looking to go to an OTB with my picks and then quickly run my wifes qp's as well in the interest of saving time.

a RNG was about the only way a person could have gotten last year's winning tickets.;)

We had ON TRACK last year, a multimillionaire, who hit the SUPER on a ticket in the range of $600.00

The first and third (Afleet Alex)were somewhat logical but the place horse was not.

Mutuels manager only told me that they did not have enough cash on hand to pay it all out and gave him only 10K and the rest in a check.

payouts here often are slightly different because of dollar differences but it was well over 200,000

I don't know about the machines up there but as for quick picks in general, they are available on the self-service terminals here. Here being Nebr.

thx for that reply... but I went to an OTB yesterday and they too use "Scientific Games" ticketing system. I guess the NY / NJ area is monopolized by these crooks (until the class action lawsuit goes through that is)
