There are rumblings in the media that this meet could be expanded for next year. Perhaps a two week boutique meets for spring/autumn (ala Keeneland).

Aycee is not Keeneland but with the Meadowlands thoroughbreds gone.
This might be a good opportunity for Greenwood (Philly Park's owner)
to make a commitment to live racing in the southern portion of the state.
I'm sure the horsemen would support such a proposal.

Here's the comebacking Carol Cedeno from last Saturday:

I missed out on the live fun this year, The_Knight_Sky, but I did enjoy visiting your blog.

I can remember visiting Atlantic City Racecourse on a Saturday afternoon when I was in high school in the 1960's. We used to park on a nearby street as the parking lot was full. In fact, I remember being amongst 36,000 fans on a summer Saturday back then.

One thing is for sure even today. AC's turf course is still totally awesome!

Thanks for the kinds words NJ Stinks.
At this point there is some momentum out there for a spring/autumn
two week boutique meet, now that the Meadowlands thoroughbreds have been shelved.

Greenwood (Philly Park's owners) must make a commitment to live racing in New Jersey.
That includes the basic upgrade for a modern sound system,
working toteboard and a reintroduction to racing on the main track.

The turf course is too far away for the fans so they line up at the walking ring 5 deep
to get a glimpse at the horses. Let's keep the ball rolling for a resurgence at this historic track.

Atlantic city was one of my favorite tracks to attend
back in the 80's.
I used to live 10 miles from Belmont and would instead drive down
to AC for the live card on saturdays and sometimes do a dh with
monmouth.

I dont like the 6 race cards, instead if the track wants to
run say 40 races in a week do saturday and sunday with
11 races each and 2 other days with 9 each .

Being a jockey fan , remember when the leading rider
was Michal Torso?

They don't really want to run at all, but honestly, if you were a business and could run with little competition during the week or run against heavy competition on the weekend, who would choose to run 11 races on the weekend? That would be writing their own death sentence.

I like the 6 races with a 3:30pm post time it gives a lot of the local people a chance to watch the races. The local clubs who do the food seemed to be pretty busy this year, it looked as if everyone had a pretzel and a program! Hopefully they will continue the short 6 day meet it gives Philly park a little break also.

It works for Kentucky Downs, I mean it would be nice to have ACRC back but wouldn't it just degraded the crop alreday there?

Would be cool if they had a single day steeplechase meet.

Six or Seven races are perfect.
Philly Park's turf course does need a rest in the autumn so it would make sense
to give it a two week break and race in Jersey with a boutique meet.

As for Michal Torso. That's a blast from the past.
I'm more apt to remember Debbie Barbazon and her long hair she shook
after taking off her helmet in the winners circle before every photograph.
I wonder where she is now.

If Debbie B was in the winners circle she must
have won with Tripledogdare!!

Last I seen her name was back in louisiana , where she is from.

Stacy Prior was another attractive young lady that rode at ac.

Also recall the year that Monarchos assistant trainer
Yvonne Azeff was riding with her bug.

its shortminded individuals like yourself who are not creative and work
at various tracks and need to be open minded and need to put put a
creative and competitive racing card.

If your racing sunday to saturday whats the difference
of only running 3 less days but offering more races
makes your pointless point irrelevant.

6 races are not enough , why even open the gates,
for the real problem of racing the degenerates?

I think the first post and last post were well coordinated.

A race went off every 30 minutes, starting at 3:30 pm.
The crowd piled in whether they came for the live racing
or the late afternoon stakes races simulcast into the facility.

The 7th and last post on Saturday was held at 6:29 pm.
Folks could catch a movie/dinner or stay for the west coast simos.

There is no lighting surround the track anymore and that is final race
can't be stretched beyond 7 pm under cloudy skies or risk hazardous conditions.

They were lucky there were no thunderstorm delays
or "off-the-turf" scenarios to be played out. That would have killed business.
