If NYCOTB couldn't handle your action anymore, where would you be most likely to take it?

1) Neighboring NYS OTB account
2) NYRA-1 account
3) TVG account
4) Twin Spires/YouBet account
5) Other on-shore on-line ADW account (Please specify)
6) Pari-mutuel off-shore ADW account
7) On-line Bookmaker
8) Off-line Bookmaker
9) On-track
10) Other (Please specify)
11) Stop playing altogether

Aqueduct/Belmont, The Meadowlands and Yonkers are going to see a big boost in attendance if NYCOTB does indeed close; Aqueduct might have to reopen a portion of their closed-off grandstand.

I don't believe the boost will be big, except, maybe on the weekends.

Most guys to to OTB to play a few races. That type of player isn't going to take road trip to a track. IMO, most of the OTB handle will vaporize.

They will drive across the border into Canada so they can pay 27% takeout instead of 26%.

I was looking forward to going to the OTB over by the Staten Island Mall next week. Guess it will be closed now.

Most of the NYOTB players are older now and may stop playing. The cost for them to travel, plus the inconvenience, will force some of the more "techie" old dudes on line, somewhere.

Their Soc. Sec. checks will go further now. Wait a minute! I'm one of those old dudes now!

Trust me, they will find a way to get a bet down. You can take an old horse out of the race but you can't take the race out of an old horse. ;)

The Day at the Races
By Jerry BossertApril 16th 2010With NYCOTB apparently shutting down on Monday, several fans have asked what they should do with their NYCOTB phone/Internet wagering accounts.

The answer is simple: cash them out.

On its Web site, www.nycotb.com (http://www.nycotb.com), it states, "Any money that you have in NYCOTB accounts will be completely safe, secure and available for your use."

Let's hope so, but when NYCOTB filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy, it claimed it was $95 million in debt.

Good luck collecting.

Take your money and run while you still can, and consider other wagering options, including NYRA Rewards, where you can wager on the phone, through the Internet, at the track or even on your mobile device.

Applications and answers to many of your questions appear on the Web site www.nyra.com (http://www.nyra.com) or at 1-800-THE-NYRA.

NYRA Rewards is open seven days a week and there is no minimum balance or wagering fees. You can make free deposits and withdrawals through your checking account. Plus, you can also earn cash rewards back by wagering through the NYRA.

The best thing, however, is that by wagering through NYRA Rewards, your money is directly going back to the racing industry.

It doesn't first have to be siphoned off by the inept NYCOTB to help pay its high-salaried patronage bosses. …
