I'm bringing a few decks of cards to Saratoga with me.
Might get a cheap card game going one or two nights. or a rainy evening.
I play on Yahoo. I have 8000 games played over the last 5 years.
I play Whist, Cribbage, Gin and Spades.
Yahoo has the most popular "Card players: site on the WWW.
On a given Saturday night I'll log onto a card room and there might be 10,000 people playing spades,,,,and 8000 playing Whist.
Its quite popular.. I think they have a couple hundred thousand people in thier "GAMES" rooms overall on weekend nights.
Its free...and its not gambling... Its sport.
Yahoo has an automatic rating system. Your issued a "Provincial" rating when you begin...after 20 games you start to get a color coding and a NUMBER rating that shows what level of player you are...and who you have beaten. You work your way through the card rooms... Provinsial rooms to begginer rooms to intermediatte rooms.
Overtime as you get better... Yahoo has "advanced players" rooms. You need to have a Minimum amount of POINTs to even get on a table in those rooms. I play predomanitley in there.
Card playng is an old time thing. When I grew up, no matter where you went.. The Barroom, The Fire Station, a social club, they're were always guys off in the corner playing GIN and Cribbage.
People don't play cards like they used to.
I love it. I think it makes me a better handicapper as well...It really improves my reasoning and probability skills.
