Here's a race where you gotta root for the lil guy. 4 horse Queen Hazel cost a mere 2500 at Kee Sept Yrling 08 sale. 2nd dam Avowal was multiple Canadian turf winner, and buyers obviously forgot that she threw a 2nd place finisher in the Queens Plate G1.
The only question here is the mile distance. It may be a bit short for her, but i'm hoping Daniel Sanner has her ready to run after that dirt prep (Who the heck is Daniel Sanner?) He's also listed as part owner of Lucky 8 Stables LLC and interestingly, their website lists Queen Hazel's purchase price as $250,000 under the Horses for Sale link...hmm...Did someone include a few too many zero's in there?
She ran a photo finish behind Apple Charlotte, who has progressed into a pretty decent 3 yr old.
A return to turf is going to help Queen Hazel, and Victor Lebron is not bad with the closers. Watch in the post parade if the fronts come off for this one..
Off odds at 10-1 to 15-1 would be a gift, and I think she'll go off longer. Keep her in your exotics and a definite inclusion in the super.
