says he was a south side kid, a big fan of the sox, yet cannot name a favorite sox player, can't pronounce the name of the ballpark, and apparently didn't spend much time throwing the ball around either.

That darn Obama!!! Claiming to be a south side kid when we all know he grew up in Kenya  I mean Hawaii.
The question was "Who was one of your favorite players growing up?" The answer was appropiate to the question. Now, I have to say that I have been a Cubs fan since the late forties. But I can name Cubs players from the beginning of the franchise.
I've always thought the "ARL" in your user name referred to Arlington Park, but it could be Arlington, Va. or Arlington, Tx. or have a completely different meaning.
Many Chicagoans pronounce Comisky as if there were an "n" before the " s". This is particularly true of south siders. If you are from the NW suburbs and you don't know this you are not paying attention.

apparently didn't spend much time throwing the ball around either.

I can't argue with that. I told a neighbor girl who plays on the high school softball team that Obama throws like a girl. She beat me up.

I can vouch for the Cominsky pronunciation albeit Ma dissuaded her offspring to correction when we'd say "over der" or "da bears".

Happy to report I speak with impeccable enunciation. In hindsight, glad I do as Southern/Eastern/Chicagoan accents evoke non-intellect.

There, I said it.

Cominsky while not grammatically correct is a Chicago way of saying it, as confirmed by former Chicago area resident BigMack, a guy who never agrees with me on anything.
I'm not even going to mention that there is no "e" in Cominsky. Wouldn't think of it.

So yuse guys think Obama is one of those "over by dare" types? i'm not buying it.

So when Obama goes to Cominsky, I wonder if he orders up an arugula salad.

He throws like a former basketball player, which is what he is. Any way who cares about baseball any more. This once great sport of my childhood who had great stars like Mantle, Mays, and Koufax is now nothing more than a bunch of steroid phonies who are not good enough to play football or basketball. Not the point.
The point is that OBamadinajhad is a LSOS - he has no clue what the guy is asking him - who was your favorite SOX player?

Uh, I , uh,, mmm, uh, I like the CUBS, too!
I uh, uh, I, uh, lived in, uhh, Ken, er, Hawaii, and I us., liked uh, Oakland, too.
That's, uh, why uh, I, have clue what you asked me and I need to uh, mmm, try to look intelligent, and uh, I uh, mm, that is hard to do.

But here's the kicker to all this and his numerous other gaffes, bloopers or just outright stupid remarks: Obama is touted by many in the press as being a "brilliant" guy. A really smart fellow. A constitutional scholar, etc., etc., etc. For someone who is supposed to be soooooo smart, soooo intelligent, soooo with it, how could all these mental lapses occur? For someone so smart, so articulate, why is he so guarded, so careful with his answers when he's not being propped up with a teleprompter? With a teleprompter, he often resembles a fish struggling for its life out of water! Why all the hesitancies, such as what Tom has pointed out above? The answer is obvious to all but the blind: The guy is two-bit phony -- a fraud from head to toe. A pathological liar that has much to hide.

Tom has it right, 0kakaa is a lyingsackofshit.... Ozzie woulda been the starting SS when 0kakaa came to town. He's the damn skipper there now.

How would you not come up w/ THAT name?

My first MLB game was 1964 at Comiskey, remember it well. Ron Hansen came thru with a 9th inning single to beat the Twins. At age 8 I could tell you who the Sox lineup was, who was the manager, who could turn a DP like no other 2b (Nellie).

And I damn sure coulda told you there was no N in Comiskey Park. All this talk of clinging to the Sox as a fan is bullshit. He's just trying to be an everyday man to the populace....he's far from it. And, he throws like a girl.

In Dallas in the early 1960s we got the Sox games on local radio for awhile. They were my adopted home team prior to the stRangers arrival in 1972. That was a fun team to follow.

Thomas is one guy I don't think was on roids. He was always that size. He played tight end at Auburn before coming to the Sox. Steroid phony? Let me guess: just an angry Royals fan in Nebraska. But I guess saying "angry Royals fan" is redundant, isn't it?

He'll be offered a AA contract with Springfield after his current contract is up. He'll be optioned off, then placed on the Ineffectual & Unable To Perform list.

No other club will pick up his option, since the 3rd team of the league will be the Tea Party Harbors... Sorry.

Loved kicking the Sox ass in 1993 on the way to the Back to Back W.S. Ws !

Comiskey story.

I've only been there once and that was through a planned 20th Anniversary baseball trip with the better 1/2 and the couple down the street. Anyway, the game finishes and we proceed back into the city to our garment district hotel via Subway and the L. It's like a reverse Tea Party event- we're the only ones that look like us on the car. ;) So, my buddy ( he about 6-1) notices that 2 young guys are puffing away very close to an old and unimpressed grandma. He goes over and tells them, on he behalf, to put it out.

And- THEY DID ! :)

Been to Wrigley several times and love it. Would never go back to Comiskey.

I can assure you I know the Top 5 Pitchers & who has a CY/ No Hitter and Players of the BJs, EVERY Playoff appearance, when the Sky Dome opened, etc. I attended most of them as a former Season Tix holder.

But, I have friends who don't know shite about sports and would be hard pressed to tell you who was in the Super Bowl on the day of the game. We're all wired differently. As for Obama not knowing the players, you better do a little studying up, if you're gonna play the sports fan card.

I hate to defend Obama on anything, but he was too busy trying to play politics when asked the White Sox question to answer it, and immediately tried to play to the Cubs fans too, and like most politicians, completely forgot or ignored the question. I'm sure he knows of a couple White Sox greats - but too busy talking to focus on what people ask, as usual.

And I hate to pour rain on your defense of BO, but if I'm not mistaken at the same time, he was also asked a very simple question by a reporter to the effect (paraphrasing), "Do you think Americans are overtaxed"? It took him 17+ minutes (I repeat: over 17 minutes) of uh, der, err. well ah..blah, blah, blah, blah, etc. to not answer the question. Repeat: He never really answered the question!

I heard part of this in my car over the radio. I think it was on the Schnitt show, but I stand to be corrected. BO is one stupid, duplicitous, pathetic excuse for president. When someone tosses him a direct, piercing question like that, it really throws him for a loop.

During his campaign there was similar incident on an airplane when some reporter asked him outright: Are you a socialist? How did he start off by answering that: Well, define what you mean by socialist?

This guy is one of the dimmest lit bulbs in the factory!

But I do agree with you about one thing, Mr. StatMan: He is indeed busy -- perpetually busy trying to conceal who and what he is.

I think he was just caught in yet another lie and being the dim wit he is, he can't think on his feet. I doubt he knows any ball players names, let alone what teams they play for. He probably could name them by social security numbers and gross earnings, as he has been making lists of rich people to steal from. Steal, now THAT part of the game he knows!

Well, you got it all wrong again. It wasn't at the same time. It was at a townhall meeting in South Carolina. It wasn't a reporter, it was a woman in the audience. And the question wasn't a simple "Do you think Americans are over taxed?" The question was asked in relation to the Health Care Bill and Obama answered accordingly.
He explained the benefits of the bill and how they could offset any tax increases. He did this without using notes and without a teleprompter.
You posted a YouTube video on another thread which you represented as being a video of Obama taking 17 minutes to answer the question. It was really a video of the Fox nitwits talking about Obama taking 17 minutes.
Unlike you, I listened to the first six minutes of the Obama response. There was not one uh, not a single der, no err's and no well ah's. Not a one. No crutch words of any kind. I seriously doubt if I will find any in the last two parts of the video.

And yet you say they are there. Which leaves us with two possibilities. Either you are hallucinating or you are lying. OK, there is a third possibility. You don't know what you're talking about. Now that I think about it, past evidence strongly suggests #3.

1. That really wasn't the question she asked.

Oh, I'm just talking about the question in the broadcast booth during the baseball game that he threw out the opening pitch. The town hall meeting and 17 minutes, that's another thing - I haven't watched that yet, not sure if I can take 17 minutes of Obama. But once he said he was a big White Sox fan and they asked him the question, he immediately went into damage control mode and sucked up to the Cubs fans too (which would piss off far more White Sox fans than if he'd forgotten the Cubs fans) with the larger demographic (also pissing off White Sox fans). I'm sure if he had more time and thought, he'd have sucked up to the non-baseball fans, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, even the Fire (soccer), and Rush (Arena football) if they had more fans.
