I am not a Tiger Woods fan much but what is with this interview?

1. PGA stands for Profession GOLFERS Association does not stand for Professional Gentlemens Association.

2. Nowhere in the PGA rules does it say it's against league rules to cheat, get in a car accident, etc. Most of the league would've been suspended over the years :D

3. If they are questioning his on course antics recently and his respect for the game where are the other interviews on other players who have done the same antics over the years???

4. I don't know if he did steroids. He really doesn't look that big at all and his head hasn't grown huge like Clemens,Bonds,Giambi, etc. He said the doctor(the one in question) seperated his plasma from his blood in a centrefuge and injected back into him. Maybe. If it's steroids, they were bad steroids :D

5. One question basically was, "How did you have all the off course stuff going on and still play all the winning golf?" Uhhhhh I don't know how does 75% of all the other athletes in sports do it.

6. "Is your wife coming?" Geez who cares. It's a golf game and what does she have to do with it. Is he at a golf interview or at a marriage consuling session.

7. "Tiger how have you fooled so many for SO long" Uhh I don't know the SAME way most athletes fool the fans and media :D

This is all just my opinon above but this is all BS just to cause more of a media stir for the Masters to bring in bigger ratings and money considering golf needs him and ratings stink without him. This is not the first time a big time player who projects their life as something else has been caught for cheating. Just the first time it's been treated like this.
So many golfers and other athletes must be a little tense because of what's happened to Tiger in the last 4 months. Tiger is no different that half of the sports world athletes. it's just he's a big name and the ONLY name in his sport.

It's also amazing Jordan and Magic never got this hammered for doing the same thing. Well I guess thank God they didn't really have text messaging back them :D

As I post this, the interview is not over.

To address perhaps the larger issue, why the difference between pro basketball and pro golf as far as the reaction to the players antics, maybe it is because of expectations. With pro ball players like Sprewell and others, you come to expect it. However, within the ranks of golf, it is not.

The interview just ended. Now for the post "game" analysis and second guessing.

I thought he was very rehearsed, he hit on the usual spots with these type of after being caught press conferences.

1. He says he was sorry
2. Showed apparent contrition
3. Apparent Humility
4. Mentioned his wife, mom and father and kids...ect
5. Deny what he hasn't been proved yet

I would say it went according to script.

Reading beneath the lines I formed the opinion that Elin and him are kaput.

Reading beneath the lines I formed the opinion that Elin and him are kaput. How can they not be? It wasn't a one or two time thing with this guy...can't see how she can ever trust him...if she stays, it has to be purely for the $$$ or for the kids' sake...and considering he's not going to be around half the time as he is back in the game, I doubt the kids would benefit all that much anyway...

So, if she stays, it has to be for the $$$...

Golf is unique among sports. It is the only sport where they call fouls on themselves. It is Professional Gentlemens Association although lately there have been a few cracks in that ideal. JMO

You make a lot of good points....one thing I did hear that explains thing a bit is that the people at the Masters required him to do it so they could get all of the q's out of the way and not take away from the other golfers during the week with questions every day.....

As far as the steroids go, I believe there are links to some questionable doctors and in my opinion he definitely got bigger in the last 3-5 yrs

Tiger's physique has completely changed since he 1st won the Masters in 97, some would even say abnormally.

Tiger's physique has completely changed since he 1st won the Masters in 97, some would even say abnormally. So you're saying he's not allowed to develop, even through legit means?

What if he built himself a gym and dedicated himself to working out more after 1997? Anyone who exercises regularly is bound to change his body in positive ways...he will get bigger and stronger, especially if he goes on a weight lifting regimen...

I know why you are suspicious of him...obviously, if he is capable of carrying on like a college frat boy while he was supposed to be married with children, he's capable of doing just about anything to "get that edge." The fact that he denies any use of steroids while in the same breath apologizes for lying to and destroying his family life is one of the more unintendedly humorous byproducts of this entire saga.

TW used to have quiet a regimented daily routine. I don't recall all of the details but it would surprise me if he didn't develop a physique.

I'd like to see some pictures of AK, yesterday's winner, from 1997 to see what he looked like back then.

Tiger had built up his body a bit from the earlier years but it's not remotely even close to being huge. It's just got better definition. Why does everyone forget about weights and what they do. Last year I got back to lifting weights and got back some good muscle mass and tone. I would be trashed as a steroid user today I guess :D . I never have and never would use.

Just try lifting weights for 2-3 months and see what happenes to your body.

Obcourse it is possible, I've just seen it happen all too often to not be surprised anymore. There's enough smoke to suspect him of doing it unnaturally, given that he has deceived the public once already. He loses the the benefit of doubt. Everything about him is questionable and in a way that was why his sponsers abandoned him.

I totally agree....also, I really dont understand anyone saying he hasnt bulked up noticeably in the last 3-5 years...maybe he did it the natural way, but as you say,, where there is no smoke, you can suspect a fire

My one and only question to TW would have been along the lines of "Tiger, you asked, rightfully so, that your wife and children be "immune" (my words) from the press and incessant photo shots of them as they were not involved in your latest chicanery.

What were your thoughts as you had sex with a reported 18 women who were NOT your wife. What were your concerns as to their well being at that time ????

The reporters toss soft ball questions.
They knew that getting press passes to the Masters is more difficult than finding hens teeth. They weren't going to risk having those passes revoked.
The same will be true of the spectators. They'll be polite.
The test will come when he's playing in Chicago, New York, or at the Ryder Cup or British Open on foreign soil.

From listening to talk radio this AM, just prior to the press conference, those wanting to attend the Masters (yearly) have to agree to certain terms and put up an irrevocable bond of $3000 that will be forfeited if they do not adhere to the agreed to "rules", which are of course written by the tournament committee.

I wonder, and this is a serious question, if the patrons will be prohibited from shouting "in the hole" ???

When TW's gets outside of the umbrella of the Masters, the questions will get tougher, the crowds will be rowdier, the heckler's more frequent, the scrutiny more intense. One has to wonder what else has he done that may surprise us, up until November no one even knew he was leading a double life, that's the amazing part of it all. Now we have people/mistresses coming out weekly. Stay tuned.

Now we have mistresses coming out weekly. Stay tuned.

Could be a hoot if one of them "streaks" at one of his tournaments and grabs him by the leg screaming: "You said you loved me."
Then a second one right after runs out ("streaks") yelling the same.
(Hmm? There's an idea for a tabloid.)

There's people who ALWAYS know. Just not the whole entire public knows. There was another sports gossip site that called out Tiger Woods back in May. They said which PGA player which no one would suspect has women in every city and has been cheating on his wife left and right and that it'll blow up within the year. Everyone guessed Phil :D . Poor Phil. Also said his father would get his own room at hotels and always get escort girls and if he couldn't get one, the sponsers would supply him the girls.

I mean as I said earlier, this is NOT anything new or even shocking at all. Same old sports world antics. It's just because it's Tiger that their getting in a frenzy.

I wouldnt be surprised....it is so hard to be as dominant as he was/is at golf and I think that part of the reason he was so dominant was that he thought he was invincible and so did everyone else....it will be interesting to see if the fact that he and others now know that he isnt will carry over to the course...I think it will.

If Tiger misses the cut this weekend, it will not be due to disrupted routines. He's got a mental discipline second to none that will carry him in this regard.

He'll miss the cut because he will not have gotten the necessary feeling back. He even said it himself today, he needs that feeling (lovin' or otherwise) back. The coarse and the greens will demand an exactness, that if not present will be punished serverly. Too many bogies, too many errant shots into the rough, behind a tree, it's over, baby.

He HAD a mental discipline when he thought he was untouchable.....his routine and discipline is what carried him and that routine got destroyed by everything that happened and that is why I think his overall game will suffer in the near future at least. How many other years did his routine consist of getting grilled on Monday by the press instead of getting his ass kissed? None...how many years did his routine consist of not having his wife and kids around? none....how many years did he have to worry about getting heckled and personally hire 90 people for his security staff to manage it? You get my point......

Yes, I get your point. And, they're valid. However, I was attempting to address this weekend's play and only that. I think the security and the controls this weekend at that venue will be very, very tight -- like a frog's butt (or a duck's, if you so choose).

The next contest, it will not be as well controlled. Hopefully, it won't detiorate into a free-for-all but eventually TW's detractors will make themselves heard.

I say he wins by 3+ strokes. They all still fear him. Funny how Ernie Els who was big before Tiger and also spoke out against him could'nt win a tournament to save his life in recent years. Last time he won was over two years ago. Since Tiger has been gone Ernie has won 2 tournaments this year. But now he'll go back to being scared and sticking his head in the sand.
These guys always fold when Tiger is near(except Phil and Rocco) and it's always frustrated me. So looking forward to see what Els does.

You seem like a guy who is really into golf and knows quite a bit....say whatever you want about Tiger, can you remember being this intrigued by a tourney? I cant...it is going to be awesome....

I have always followed golf, why, I'm not sure. Perhaps in part because so many people I've known over many years both inside and outside work, play.

But since last summer, I do play -- not well but I can swing a club and I'm continuing to take lessons. It has really raised the level of appreciation. And it has given my son and I something I know we will be able to share for the rest of our years on this earth.

Yes, this will be awesome. I'll be pulling for Ernie, and Paddy, and, if he is not still hurting, Vijay. I won't be rooting against Tiger but I will be following him and monitoring his progress. I anticipate there will be numerous teaching points I'll be able to glean from TW's play to teach my son about how to play and how to overcome adversity.
