Californias troubled OTB industry may be getting a new player if the OC Tavern in San Clemente gets the required permits to open up as only the states second mini-satellite. They would seem to be in a very good area to make a go of it. The southern part of Orange County has some affluent areas to attract patrons from. It is a rather long drive from this area to either Del Mar to the south or Los Alamitos to the north, so the tavern is in a good place.

Well, this place is finally going to try and fly after the usual expected delays with permits and so on. With the depressed state of racing in general and California in particular, must say that this guy has nerve to open up, and sure wish him success. This is only the 2nd mini satellite to open in the state, in spite of the law that permitted many more to operate. Intend to take a drive down there sometime after the first of the year and check things out.

But the horses you wager on will not run one step faster than they would have had you wagered at some other place that was an absolute dump.:(

It looks as if this place is going to fly. Making $440 a day may not seem like much after paying expenses, but remember, the place is a bar and restaurant, and will sell a lot of food and drink to patrons. Looking at the photos, the betting room seems a bit small and cramped, and those flat wall TV's do not present the best visuals, but heck, it is only a mini satellite. Good to see a bit of positive news for a change coming out of California.
