You know, the one that when you see it. You run, not walk to the windows.

Myself, I like a double drop from MSW into Mdn Clm with a show of speed that faded to the moon. Prices are outrageous.

Well meant class droppers, no doubt about it.

When I see an at-odds favorite that seems to possess every angle (good trainer, good jockey, good post position, good genes, class drop, good workouts, Lasix, improving form) except one: Speed, I bet on the longshots that can contend.

Most of the time speed is speed. Angles help in evaluating contenders, but when I feel the betting public is wagering on a heavy favorite based on angles alone, time for the speedy longshot.

Here's another, courtesy of Steve Davidowitz.

An older gelding coming off a layoff, dropping in class with a steady work pattern.

---Tote board action is a plus.
---High % trainer with layoff horses: Deadly.

3rd back from a layoff. Even better if the horse is starting within 10 days of the 2nd start since the layoff.

How about this one: My brother in law loves the favorite. Bet against the Favorite, every time.

Horses that have two races in the past 45 days. It will reduce your "action" but it will also reduce your blood pressure!

Of course, there are other factors to consider. But y'all know that :)

A lone 3YO in an allowance race against older horses who've failed at the condition a number of times.

"The "special weight speed" angle is catching on thanks to the loudmouths"

If it wasn't for us loudmouths, you would have never learned how to pick um.

last week sittng in the club house with seven player's I explan to all seven why a horse could not lose the upcoming race. At 3-1
only one out of the seven bet him. The moral of this to be learned
is: when a horse player has made up his mind to bet a certain horse, no way in the world are you going to change his mind.

I for one don't bet MAIDENS, try and change my mind.

Shacopate started this thread by stating his fav angle was--Myself, I like a double drop from MSW into Mdn Clm with a show of speed that faded to the moon. Prices are outrageous

Here ya go buddy--tonite at WO in the 8th

4 Deputy Ruckus ml 15-1

Trained by John Leblanc Jr, who happens to have some serious stats at this level (maiden claiming)
3 wins from 5 starts 7.22 roi
with a purse drop 2 for 12 2.79 roi

If you had bet all Leblancs starters at Wo

9 for 66 1.66 roi

This is an up and coming trainer who has not caught on yet--his father was nails and he passed all his knowledge to his son.

Lets look at the horse

He is free falling from msw to mdn 32k-5 levels
Lightly raced with 2 starts
His last start was from a wide post where he flashed early speed and faded while racing wide.
the drop -wide trip--and flash of speed are deadly angles at any oval in north America.
Combine it with a savvy trainer and the only conclusion you can draw is
run to the windows

Here's another, from the early days of Andrew Beyer.

"My first dependable winning angle was to find a horse (in a cheap claiming race) that showed speed in his last race but was unable to get the lead, If he appears likely to get the lead today, BET HIM."

Found that Morning Lines of 3/5 or lower:
46/56 (82.1%) averaging a return of $2.83. That's an ROI of + 16.3%!!

Deadliest Angle ever: Morning Line of 1/5. Found three of them and they are 3 for 3!!

Hollywood Park 5/24/2003 Race #8. Azeri. Paid $2.40.
Stampede Park 6/15/2003 Race #8. Raylene. Paid $2.50.
Hollywood Park 6/21/2003 Race #8. Azeri. Paid $2.60.

His long time angle applies to two old stakes races... "play the 3 longest price hosses on the 'ironman.'" I haven't checked it out myself, so he may be shining me... it wouldn't be the first time. Boy am I going to have fun with my grandkids. LOL

The favorite had a good post position last out and the pace was a little quicker than he normally likes.

Find another in the race that either races at about or a notch below the favorite and that took a step back last out, and had a negative post last out. Or, second time back with an excuse for the previous race.
