I overheard a pair of guys recently at the track and one guy was obviously the 'expert' and the other guy just listened. The way this guy was talking you could tell he thought he knew it all, you could just tell from his tone of voice he thought he was a racing expert.

Anyway, a few races later, his wife/girlfriend shows up and asks him something about a lucky number or something like that. Turns out this 'expert' was betting his lucky numbers every race! He knew absolutely nothing about handicapping, he was just betting bingo numbers.

I guess you never know what you're going to hear at the racetrack!

Any 'funny' stories you guys have from random horseplayers that you've seen in action over the years?

My general observation with small groups trying to come up with a consensus pick is the worst handicapper is usually the best debater.

I'm gonna remember this one, love the quote.

Yes, one noted handicapper on this board wants to teach new fans:
"What is the difference between a number 4 or 5 shoe on the shoe board up there on the tote board?"
That'll sure capture their interest and bring them back, eh.
