Love the match races like this one they had at PHA yesterday which graphically show every idiot on earth how criminal the takeout and breakage are,

have to lay 1/9 but can't even get back 2/1 on the other side-

the definition of criminal.

(it didn't close there but it was at those prices for abt 10mins leading up to post)

If they going to post odds like this-don't expect to attract any one as a customer who has more than two working brain cells.

Without knowing the particulars, what would you have made the other side?

If it was offered as a proposition bet by a bookie instead of a horse race and the 1/9 was accurate-
he would probably open the dog +650 or 6 1/2 to 1 and move higher when no one bets it.

He would probably have to get to +750 before he would find takers.
Talking avg Joe bookie not some low juice online place or exchange-where the player would get +850 here or more on the dog.


That low of a takeout is unreasonable to expect with racing, but the current situation is bad and when they run two horse races it is so graphic how bad it is. IMO they would have been better off going 0% takeout for that one race-generate a little interest since they did squat in handle but of course it is probably against state law.

Yeah, takeout is high, but anyone dumb enough to bet a 2-horse race in the slop at Philly deserves what he gets. :)
