With all the hoopla concerning the preps of RA and ZEN, here's another spin I would like to put on this:
How many people living east of the Mississippi liked Zenyatta's chances of defeating Rachel in the Apple Blossom before today's prep races?
Conversely, how many westerners liked Rachel better?
There have to be some people in those categories, but I feel sure they are in the minority.
There really are some polarizing factors at work here.
East v West, and Dirt v Synthetic, to name the main ones.
It's a modern day Seabiscuit v War Admiral, and a reminder as to how little we have changed as a race during the 72 years separating the events.

I live east of the Mississippi, but cross the Mississippi to get to the race track. Maybe that's why I can't make up my mind.

Its all about the horse and this eastern guy is, has been, and always will be a Z fan. Anybody that backs a horse just because he/she is from his/her area of the country should go away and become a college football fan.

That is how I see the Olympics. It is about athletes competing to see who is best, not a medal count to prove that our way of life is superior.

i have thought since last year that zen was the faster horse. i live in md. incidentally i thought rachel should have won hoy last year also. so how does that fit into the scenerio? i've always been about the horse, and try to stay out of all the politics of racing. these animals give their all for a carrot after the race, and run for our enjoyment. eventhough i think zen is faster; that doesn't lower my opinion of rachel. she's still one heckuva racehorse, and she's just as enjoyable to watch as zenyatta. my hopes are they race twice, and each one wins one time. that way we can argue about this for the next 20 years. ;)

I love them both. I wouldn`t bet a bean on either of them, just sit back and enjoy the race. I`ll be happy for the winner and very sad for the loser. Good luck to both.
