1967 Woodward with Damascus, Buckpasser and Dr. Fager. Three of the top 20 in the Bloodhorse's 100 best horses of the 20th century in one race.

The hype before the Ruffian-Foolish Pleasure match race was incredible.

The 1990 Arlington Challenge between Easy Goer and Sunday Silence as 4yos.

Alas, it never came off because both were retired due to injury before the race ever happened.

Let's hope history does NOT repeat itself this time around:

Indeed...that may be the greatest Woodward ever run...I just got goosebumps!!

I assume we aren't going to mention Big Red's Belmont.

The hype before the Ruffian-Foolish Pleasure match WAS incredible...all over the news on TV, the newspapers...it was headline stuff that I don't think has been matched since.

Another that was incredible...the Travers when Ridan & Jaipur hooked up nose to nose the entire distance...what a race:jump:

Man, once you start thinking about it...there are dozens to mention...and I hope that years from now, folks will include the Apple Blossom to the list of the greatest races ever.

The Ruffian-Foolish Pleasure match race for the hype.
Secretariat in the Belmont for the anticipation.

1978 Belmont. Followed by the 1978 Travers...that latter became a real downer after the DQ.
