Ran across Backtalk's name looking over the pps for the Rebel. Royal Express just ran 2nd to him in the Sportsman's Paradise Stakes (1m for $72k) at Delta on 2/26.

With $171,455 in graded earnings already, he has enough to make the Derby field. He is nominated to the TC.

Haskin (http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/55651/kentucky-derby-trail-eight-isnt-enough) sees him as being pointed toward the Louisiana Derby, so he may be about ready to step back onto the main stage.

Did you see the 2/26 race? Very bizarre. Hard to make much out of, will be very interested to see next out though.

I follow the Smarty's on Fox Hill Farm website and a few others. Many of the workouts and smarty's are listed there. Heard he had a nice work at FG over the slop.
I also like Laus Deo. His dam won the Ky Derby and we know his sire (medaglia d'oro) has accomplished much. He had throat surgery and is getting started again. I'm wondering if he will make any preps, I love that guy!~ Winslow's surgery went well as well.
