Excerpt:

National GOP leaders are doing damage control today after a Politico scoop lifted the curtain on the party's plan to tap voters' "fear" in the coming campaign season. The PR problem started when an absent-minded attendee at the Republican National Committee (RNC) confab on February 18 in Boca Grande, Florida, left a 72-page document from its 2010 strategizing session in a hotel room. Today, Politico reporter Ben Smith's expose is making headlines.

The memo tracks the fundraising presentation that RNC Finance Director Rob Bickhart delivered to the RNC's $2,500-a-head annual retreat. The best path to victory in 2010, the document advises, is for Republican candidates to depict themselves as the best hope for resisting the "trending toward socialism" taking shape in a Democrat-dominated Washington.

I still maintain that as long as Repugs continue to shoot blanks with strategy like this - making themselves look as foolish as the opposition - all the frustration in the world with ultra-liberal dems isn't necessarily going to translate to "hope and change" in politics any more than the last election resulted in hope and change in politics. Just a different brand of stupidity.

i am going to give you a clue as to what is going on, its all an illusion. these guys with the political parties are all legends in their own minds. and politics are for liars, swindler's and lowlifes.

Jim: The Repubs have been trying to shed the label of "Party of No" for a year. People are willing to hear about conservatism and the party's ideas for promoting those ideals effectively in accordance with our societies contemporary issues.

My opinion only - Campaigning on the detriments of the other in lieu of the benefits of yourself is only good for the campaign. See the Obama campaign as a reference. Perhaps the dupe can work again, but then even if it does, the world is shocked by what you actually do since either you never mentioned it or more likely, it contradicts what you said. The time has come for actually being different not only in policy, but in politics.

Lambo: No I don't think that Democrats are better. In fact, this is straight from their playbook, which is a big part of our problem politically. Your opinion on politics and politicians isn't far off from my own, and this approach solidifies that feeling. There is an opportunity for anyone willing to be something different to be rewarded for it right now, and this tidbit helps confirm that Repubs aren't looking to capitalize on that opportunity for the good of the people at large.

I don't get it...where's the story?

Ain't no story. The usual loons will drill it to ground while the other 98% of the world never paid it much attention. Like some kid telling a pilot he's free to roll. Big deal.

I did learn that the BO/joker poster was designed by a supporter of my favorite lil' buddy, Denny K. I could hang with Denny.

In that shot, Denny K. looks like he would have fit nicely as a director/producer in the 70s San Fernando valley porn scene...ala Boogie Nights...

Although it wasn't mention in the yahoo story, the "news" is what the republican party thinks of their donors.

I agree about the kids in the tower. Who cares? The pilots getting the messages didn't - that's for sure.

I hope it's fake outrage. But who knows anymore?

Kucinich was elected Mayor of Cleveland in 1977 and served in that position until 1979. At thirty-one years of age,
he was the youngest mayor of a major city in the United States, earning him the nickname "the boy mayor of Cleveland".

Kucinich's tenure as mayor is often regarded as one of the most tumultuous in Cleveland's history.
After Kucinich refused to sell Muni Light, Cleveland's publicly owned electric utility, the Cleveland mafia put out a hit on Kucinich.
A hit man from Maryland planned to shoot him in the head during the Columbus Day Parade, but the plot
fell apart when Kucinich was hospitalized and missed the event.

When the city fell into default shortly thereafter, the mafia leaders called off the contract killer.

In the upper left shot, to me, he looks a bit like Marv Albert. Sorry Mr. Albert!
