I hardly ever eat sweets anymore, but today I had a Peanut Butter Twix and it was like heaven in a wrapper!

i'm just curious what everyone's favorite candy bars are?

Cadbury's Dairy Milk Chocolate Bar but it's got to made in the UK - not in Canada or the U.S.

if I could only have one, for the rest of my life, it would be the classic Hershey with Almond.

Like some have posted, for pick up anywhere, candybars, I haven't bought one in many years. Instead, keeping "Hershey's Milk Chocolate And Toffee Nuggets" in a small bowl is good. Great little bites of chocolate for energy and something sweet.

The finest, pure decadence I've ever enjoyed in chocolates--and you SoCal guys may be familiar with it--is California based, See's Candies. The most exquisite taste of chocolate my money can buy. Love the stuff, and have ordered it for gifts at Christmas and Easter many times.

Compared to See's, Godiva with its reputation as the finest, while packaged in all its glitz, tastes like the paraffin its formula leans heavily on.

See's is heaven as chocolate goes!

I don't have A favorite, but several favorite candy bars. Skor, Almond Joy, Hersheys with Almond (cannot get more classic then that), PayDay and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. However, since Hershey's expanded their Hershey Kiss line I have to say that Hershey Almond Kisses would be first in line even though they are not a candy bar, much in the same way Almond M&Ms is now my preferred Mars product. Also love Jordan Almonds. Can you tell Almonds are my favorite nut by far? :D

I forgot to add York Peppermint Patties, also made by Hershey. If you love chocolate you really should make the trip to Hershey, PA at some point. Its a neat little town and I found it fascinating to do the tours as read about the evolution of the company, its products, how chocolate is made and about its founder Milton Hershey and the legacy he established with the Milton Hershey School (for those that don't know the majority of Hershey stock is owned by Hershey Trust Company which also completely owns the Amusement Park, Hotel Hershey, etc) whose purpose is to provide perpetual funding for that School. It is also only 7 miles from Penn National. There is also a nice Outlet Mall right next to the Amusement Park.

Those used to be my favorite, but then i found at Trader Joe's an Organic Dark Chocolate bar ( 73% ) for $1.99 and they rock . Does anyone remember the candy bars from the late 70's/maybe early 80's called " Go Ahead "..if i have the right bar not only did they tast good, but they had 19 vitamins/minerals or something to that effect. rbj

I used to really love those when I was a kid, still get them sometimes, the Red package ones. Those and Charleston Chews, but my jaw can't handle those anymore.

My favorite, but rarely have due to dental work, is Nestle's 100 Grand. Chocolate, caramel & rice krispies. Fantastic but really sticks to the teeth.

What a great article, Finfan. Thanks for posting. When I saw the Mary Jane I remembered buying them for .01. There really was such a thing as penny candy. Some of us can recall such oddities. LOL

I didn't know Kraft had bought English maker, Cadbury, which years before this buyout--was better chocolate than it is today.

Again, thank you for posting.

I love sugar so it's hard to pick a favorite. I always liked red licorice. Usually Twizzlers but when I was growing up in NY they had Broadway Rolls which were these flat red licorice rolls. I love em. I haven't seen them anywhere else in the country though.

Nobody mentioned Snickers! I thought it would be the first one....maybe I missed it.

My favorite is ZERO.

As a kid, I liked Big Hunk too. I still like ZERO the best. Mounds and Almond Joy rank up there for me too....and dark chocolate Snickers.

I have been craving some Samoas for the longest time and for some reason I never ever get asked by anyone if I want to order some girl scout cookies. Which amazes me because I once was a girl scout many years ago and the whole cookie sale thing were pretty much a traumatizing experience for me because to put it mildly I was not even remotely an outgoing sales type (actually still am not). Every few years I get lucky and walk by a table of a local girl scout troop before walking into the grocery store. Three years ago I walked up and said I would take a case of Samoas (I think that was 12 boxes) and the girl taking the order just went  I almost felt like a high roller :D

WOW!!! Now THAT brings back memories. I remember as a child, we would travel to visit my Grandparents. On the way home, we would always stop for ice cream, I would pass on the ice cream for a ZERO candy bar. Still my all time favorite. Hard to find these days. :jump:
