Back in the early 70's Millwood Publication published:

Thoroughbred Racing, Percentages and Probabilities
by Frederick S. Davis.

Today, being a dark day at CRC I spent it at Barnes & Nobles reading James Quinn's "Handicappers Condtion Book". In it he mentions the above numerous times.

If memory serves me, I seem to remember several years ago of somebody on the west coast writing a program for this. Anybody ever hear of it ?

I have the book and "system" pack that came with it.
I never saw a program for it, but I used it as a hand method for a few years and still use some of the ideas that were in it (like to rate a horse's early speed, use the first two calls at today's distance or shorter and add them up. That is the rank for eacch runner (3,2,5, etc...).
Just another waty to look at something a little less obvious to the public. I've been using this more latley in conjuction with HTR's f1 -trying to cash in on those longshots Ken hasbeen writing about.
