I listened to Race & Sports Radio with Felix Taverna for several years. It was on KOGO San Diego and then a couple of years ago switched to XPRS 1090. It was always on at 9:00AM Pacific Saturdays and Sundays. At one time it was an excellent show with a lot of good information. It has not been on air the past several weeks, and there is no mention of the show on the xxsportsradio.com web site.
Felix' co-host of several years, Larry Zap left the show suddenly toward the end of the 2009 Del Mar meeting. I never did hear an explanation of why he left or why he was asked to leave the show. In my opinion the show suffered dearly without "Zapper's" analysis. It basically came down to Felix stammering along and reading the analysis from Today's Racing Digest. I guess the ratings went to crap after Larry Zap left. If anyone has any information about why Larry Zap left the show, and why it is no longer broadcast on XPRS, I would appreciate it.
