now i've defended penn national numerous times on this forum, but suddenly they're not having any simulcasting on wednesday due to the "impending" snow storm....

fair enough i guess.... IF they're going to be shutting down the entire casino also.

It's probably because the storm will play havoc with the satellite signals.

It's easier to shut it down (since many tracks won't be running and for the few that are, the signals will be spotty at best) rather than to put up with customer complaints every time the signal drops during a race or they get shut out because there is no video at all for an upcoming race.

this is irrelevant

It has to do with dollars and cents....no racing, no purse payouts.

Not a surprise. Racing comes last in their books. Always will with racinos.

i do see that ct is actually open on mon and tues now (was this always the case?) at least in the afternoons........ and supporting the sport, unlike some of these other pure tracks like sa and cd that so many here love.

so perhaps i'm being too hard on pen for this one incident?

it's just that simulcasting is so easy to run. how hard is it to turn on a few tvs and collect your 15%?

i do see that ct is actually open on mon and tues now (was this always the case?)Nope. I think I ranted about it once before. :) I rarely ever bet simulcast but I did go to CT once to bet a horse at Pen thereby finding out the hard way that CT was closed for simulcasting on Mondays AND Tuesdays. It “woulda” been easy enough for me to check beforehand but who would’ve thought that two tracks with the same owner wouldn’t be showing each other’s signals ALL of the time? Certainly not moi! Never entered my mind. I mean, who does business that way? Oh yeah, racetracks. The slots were going seven days a week so why not the simulcasting?

Maybe they’re losing money on it. ?? At least that’s what they act like at CT. Like you say, how hard is it to switch on a few tvs.
