I've been trying without success to find out who the "host track" is for North American wagers on Australia racing, & what is the takeout & average pool sizes of their exotic wagers? Can't find the info anywhere. :bang: thanks, folks.

Only place I know to go is www.racenet.com.au (http://www.racenet.com.au/) for all things aussie racing.

I keep a virtual stable over there for aussies. They feature all the Victorian Racetracks and New South Wales courses.

Right hand VERY BOTTOM of page is industry links. I'm sure you can find out from reading the site or from asking somebody there.

YouBet's all go thru Woodbine, might check there?

IIRC, the takeout is the same as Hastings Park (which hosts the Australian pools):

WPS: 15.8%
DD, Exa: 23.8%
Tri, P3, P4: 26.8%

Actually Hastings changed it's WPS takeout to 17% a couple of years ago.

listen, if your the type of bloke to bet pool inefficiencies forget about it, but if you have a legit pick take a stab mate.

take a look at typical late money on #6 a sportinggoodmarketmover in the two frames below.

If you were genuinely thinking Canada, then Hastings Park is really the best logical place.

Vancouver has a large Asian population, and contests hosted by australianracing.com have been dominated by people from Hastings Park.

The 5 dropped in actual win $$, maybe someone cancelled a bet and put in on the 6....although your point is valid...there are always lots of pool inefficiencies in the NA pool

People wager very late in Aussie races because, I suspect, that they wait to see the sets of Australian odds that are displayed about six minutes to post.

As people here know, watch the money flow after those odds are shown.

Handicappers wager on Aussie races as if longshots will not win. It's a tacit admission that those punting Down Under must know what they are doing, so the money flows accordingly.

Having a few web pages open of fixed-odds bookmakers and totalisator odds you could preempt the money flow and have your bet made before the odds are shown.

Most of the betting in Australia happens fairly late anyways

Win pools for Australia A and Australia B looking at TVG results were generally only 5K or less today. So very little interest in betting the Aussie races in America and you can only bet very small unless you don't care what odds you get

Hastings has a takeout on show betting of 12%. The info I have on Australia is
WPS 16.8% Ex/Quin 24.8% Supers Pick 4's 26.3%
Triactors 27.8%

Total bet per race (all pools included) averages around $20-30,000 I believe.

I'd have to check, but I thought Woodbine was hosting Australia.

BAB: Wyvern International, based in Louisville, handles the dissemination of the Australian Racing Signals throughout North America. They have a newly designed website, and you have to dig a little bit to find things. The site address is http://www.australianracing.com/pages/home/1.php. Then click on the Info tab to find out more. There is also an email link at the bottom of the home page; they should answer your questions about takeout, pool size, etc. if you contact them.

They never did.
