Can anyone estimate how much money they lost due to their plastic track due to rain?

I guess, they could have paid for a brand new dirt track.

I don't remember ever seeing Santa Anita cancel a card due to rain when they had the dirt track. It took some pretty heavy rain over the years. Whatever drainage problems they have now must have been created with the change to artificial surfaces. This is just pathetic.

Santa Anita should be renamed Grants Pass South.

The reason why I call it Grants Pass South is because the summer track in Grants Pass, Oregon (on the same circuit as Portland Meadows) had to always cancel when it rained due to its 1/2 mile track becoming unmanageably slick for the horses to run on it safely (they've had a track renovation since). I never thought that Santa Anita would wind up with the same problems.

How did you figure that amount?
