the comissioner of the NFL seems to me like he does a great job in public relations for football. he leads his organization with brand new idea's all the time and keeps interest in his sport to the peak at all times. i wonder if horseracing could use a dynamic guy like him as the boss of the sport.

Of course they could. If he was willing to take a 95% pay cut it could happen.

I think they give too much credit too football and Goodell. I love the sport but take away the billions of office pools, bar pools, fantasy teams, etc and it drops off. It's probably the only sport that people will watch any teams that are playing because of all the office pools and how big fantasy football is.
There are not huge pools all over the place for baseball, basketball, hockey, etc. Plus no one really cares about fantasy teams for those sports either. Football can thank it's success to the big buisness of football game pools and fantasy. Not knocking it, I love it!

Fantasy Baseball isn't too shabby either. I think if you really wanted to get someone from another sport to run horse racing, NASCAR is the place to look. My late mother was hooked on that. I never could understand why. It has a ton of fans and very little gambling or fantasy action.

Oh yeah NCAA too. Cmon without that and people would never watch these most of these colleges play. It's all about gambling and that's the reason football is big. I love NASCAR too :D They do a great job with that sport and you're right there's very litle gambling and fantasy.

The whole gambling thing isn't necessarily true. I watch pretty much anything where the score is kept, and love the NFL and NBA, and don't bet a dime on either.

You should have been betting your Thunder:) Durant is going to be right up there with Kobe and Lebron in a year or two.

Yeah of course some like yourself do but most of the football and NCAA popularity has come from the gambling everywhere. If they ban office pool, bar pools, fantasy, etc you think football gets the same ratings and has the same popularity? I'm not saying it would tank but it would lose alot.

There's a reason football can put on any teams from any state on national tv and draw ratings from everywhere. No other sport can do that. So many people have money, pools and fantasy riding on the game.

i don't bet sports either just horse racing, but i must admit i don't have the patience to watch sports these days, its pretty boring with the overpaid salaries. i do like waking up and seeing the yankees beat up on the red sox though. it is better than winning a bet!

I am sure we all can agree on one thing. If you took gambling away from horse racing, it would be a lot smaller sport.
