I heard Cameron Diaz last year commenting about a movie she was in and saw it last night. "My Sister's Keeper' surrounds an interesting moral point. At the age of two a girl was diagnosed with a more rare form of leukemia (acute myelogenous). The parents, in attempting all that they could do, were tested but their HLA genotypes were not histologically compatible, so they had a "designer baby' for "spare part use: as a source of marrow and stem cells that would be 100% compatible. This youngster was "made" in vtro making sure that the two gamates would created a compatible child.

The sister was healthy and was a soruce of multiple marrow and blood cell donations which kept the sister going until she was a teenager but then things became to fall apart: renal failure and treatments were not keeping the older sister in remission.

The older sister saw how much her disease was tearing apart the family, so along with her other siblings, they hatched a plot to sue the parents for medical control of the younger sister's body.

A very interesting ethical and moral point of view as the younger one was realizing that her function was just as a surrogate source of biological warehouse material and the older one knew it was a losing battle.

REMARKABLE performances by the actresses who played the sisters. REMARKABLE.

Only sick thinking parents would do that. Vote: unethical.

It is based upon a rel life situation and is not complete fiction.

Forget ethics, people need to get a grip on reality. Things get sick and die, yes, even people that we love.

Unethical no question, but you can't put the genie back in the bottle as much as we would like too.
