I actually thought Jess Jackson paid quite a tribute to Mr & Mrs. Moss
and regardless of the the winner of HOY , both nominees
deserved equal billing as HOY.

Interstingly, Moss has offered to run "Zen" against RA , even stating
he and his trainer love to travel..The objective is to prepare Zenyatta
for the Breeders Cup at CD on dirt
That said, RA apparently worked quite slow the other day according to Jess
so if there is a matchup (involving more than these two superstars)
I wouldn't expect to see a race for at least 3-4 months.

While Zenyatta has shown she can handle dirt, it will be interesting
if Jess ever agrees to run on the Synthetic.

I"M thinking of the August meets of SAR/DMR which would draw
huge crowds and interest at either track...

If only Mr Moss had summoned the courage to ship aenyatta last year
I think we may be talking about Zenyatta as Horse of the year!!!!!!!!

I highly doubt we will ever see these 2 run against each other.

I don't think JM lacked the courage to ship Zenyatta in 09. He simply thought that all he needed to do was win the BC. Almost any other year he would have been right. JM simply didn't see the bus named Rachel Alexandra coming.

You can bet he will take more chances with Zenyatta this year.

All of you echo my thoughts.

The irony of witnessing two of the most spectacular fillies in our
lifetime not meeting in a race due to racing
surfaces, which to date hasn't proven to be necessarily to be
"kinder" to the thoroughbred , is simply frustrating and mind boggling.

Mix in the ego factor of each owner, and the word "sportsmanship"
disappears.

While I understand Jess's thoughts due to Curlin's debacle, RA
might have run even better, but what the hell do I know, as Steve Asmussen
may agree with Jess.

BUT, Jerry is now stating he will travel to dirt tracks to prepare
for the BC at Churchill, so, why wouldn't he travel this past year
to meet RA in an effort to clinch Horse of the Year?

Given RA's early vacation this year - I have to wonder if the Woodward didn't totally exhaust RA to the point that she needed a long rest.

Depending on the level of competition they decide to face in RA's first race back, she should be good to go after two or three half-mile breezes and three or four 5/8s works (at least 7 works in total). A lot of depends, of course, on how race-fit she's stayed over the past few months, and that all depends on the individual horse. JJ's never taken the easy path with RA, so I suspect they may need a few extra works to have her 100%. If Moss & Co were selecting a first-back race for RA, she'd probably be ready in a month b/c they'd find a bunch of CA-bred mules to race against.
