it's one step away from larceny charging the standard price when you have a field like today's Affirmed.

It would make for good motivation for tracks to both get bigger fields and card fewer races. The horseman want as many races as possible with as many small fields as possible. Track management listens to horseman but doesn't give a damn about the public.

12 horses or more 20%
10-11 horses 17.5%
8-9 horses 15%
6-7 horses 12.5%
5 or less 10%

Just don't bet on such races. Maybe someone iis going to get a message before they padlock HOL. How can such races be profitable?

Blanket statements like the above about just not betting certain types of races lead to missing many great opportunities. Today's Affirmed wasn't one of them, but I've hit many big prices in 5 and 6 horse fields.
