You have heard it before—you will hear it again

What are the odds of it actually happens?

The state deserves huge blame in this. In fact the only group more corrupt than NYRA is the state legislature. However you can't get rid of the legislature, but you can get rid of NYRA. Horse racing should be a private entity and that is how you get the legislature out of it.

I think racing deserves all the blame for running the sport into the ground over the years and now needs freakin slot machines to bail them out day to day.

Patterson knows his back is against the wall in terms of having any shot whatsoever of being re-elected, even though it is almost a foregone conclusion that once Cuomo officially announces his bid, the job will virtually be his for the taking.

By picking a slots vendor for the Aqueduct casinos, if he's actually able to do it and make it stick, Patterson will at least be known as the "decisive" guy who ended an ugly 8 year old heavily political stalemate and more importantly, finally got those long overdue slot machine tax dollars to begin rolling in.

Knowing the NY State legislature, they, and Sheldon Silver in particular, will likely fight tooth and nail whichever group Patterson picks. I believe the original scenario was that Patterson, Silver & the ousted Joe Bruno all had to agree on a vendor for the choice to become final. Even with Joe out of the picture, it still ain't gonna be easy.

Moyer has obviously never heard of NYCOTB...for starters...

As well, if he is accusing Charlie Hayward of being corrupt, Moyers Pond better have concrete evidence.

Since Charlie is a public figure in this game, I will tend to be overly protective of him, when he (by extension) is being unfairly "jumped upon."
