But for all the new info that is flying about, there are still a few simple principles that will get one through life in any age, past or future.
Knowing how to get information is more important than memorizing it. Always has been, always will be. My fear is that for all of the advantages of the computer some skills will be lost. For example, how many of us remember how to do the square root of 11? How many of us can actually "think" our way through new situations without relying on the computer?
Teach kids to be problem solvers without relying on the technology and we'll be farther ahead than those millions of Chinese and Indian students.
Of course developing an expertise in computers shouldn't be ignored.
However you carve it, the innate genetic intelligence you are born with will never be exceeded by any computer. Yes. I know Big Blue or some computer beat Spasky or whoever at Chess.
Even the stupidest among us, assuming they are not impaired by brain injury or some affliction, has one area, one gift, that no computer will ever exceed.
