The Washington Wizards may want to change their name back to the Bullets. (Ah, the camaraderie of teammates!)

The Wizards marketing dept should seize this as a great marketing opportunity:

The Washington Wizards, we come out with guns a blazin'. And they mean it.

Thank goodness they aren't the Bullets any longer.

They have been a joke of a franchise for so long it is sad. They were my quasi NBA team until the Thunder came along. What a stroke of good fortune that was. One is quickly building into one of the top teams in the league. The other has been bad for a long time and continues to make dumber decisions by the day.

When you hire morons, you get moronic behavior...I heard one of them said he brought the gun to work so his kids wouldn't find it and accidently hurt themselves. What kind of nonsense is that? He could say the same thing about his toaster oven or hair dryer. Does that mean that he brought all his knives, drug paraphenalia and porno collection to work too?

I wonder what the gambling debt was over. An NBA game?

Just goes to show:

You can take the thug off the playground... but he's still a thug.

The alarming part about all this is we put these jerks on a pedestal which allows them to walk by security with who knows what in their bags or pockets :bang:

Now Gilbert Arenas is telling the authorities that it was "a misguided effort to play a joke."

http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/arenas-meets-with-authorities-010410

"In his statement, Arenas repeated his earlier assertion that he brought four guns to the Verizon Center to store in his locker in order to get them out of his house and away from his children. He said he mistakenly believed that recent changes in D.C. law made it legal for him to store unloaded guns there.

"Arenas said he took the unloaded guns out of his locker on Dec. 21 'in a misguided effort to play a joke on a teammate.' He denied threatening or assaulting anyone."

Arenas Gun Standoff – There is a Locker Room Video!

Excerpt:

And get this -- a source connected with the investigation tells TMZ the Wizards have been "over cooperative" with cops -- as the source says, "almost as if they want Arenas to go down."

The source says "there is a better than 50/50 chance the U.S. Attorney will issue a felony arrest warrant against Arenas."

DC has very strict gun laws. There is no way that the District powers that be can allow this a--hole to get off with a slap on the wrist- the events to follow should be interesting to say the least.

If there were more gunfights in basketball... I'd tune in.
