South African is something I can help you with, I don't know anything about that region.

As far as the UK, it's all I cover because of the free info they have available. I only use a few sites to get my info and they are in this link http://sites.google.com/site/maidenvoyage09/links

I also blog about it...http://maidenvoyage09.blogspot.com/ in an attempt to prevent people from betting on the losing horse.

I'll be running my Top 3 (in a single race) here with some commentary behind them so you should learn something too.. :jump:

Top 3 - Southwell - Race 1

MEHENDI
No problem with the trip, 3RD and 5TH in two starts at 12f in Sep and Oct.
Both races in an Apprentice handicap and was beaten favorite in each race.
This return to a Class 6 Maiden (apprentice) should make life easier for him.
Jockey booked have 2 wins and 4 more placed from his last 11 rides.

LOOK OFFICER
Yard debut went well when 3RD of 8 at Lingfield 23 days ago.
She was an expensive purchase having cost $60,000, resold 100,000euros.

DOVEDON ANGEL
Done well enough in her last two to get into place money here.
3RD in penultimate run and 2ND at Kempton last time out.
All-Weather debut was three runs ago for 4TH so she's really looked good.

SOUTHWELL - Race 4

OKE BAY
Trainer R M Beckett does well here, 6 wins from 25 the last 5 seasons.
His runner was 13TH of 14 lto but that was from 7 months off.
His July effort of 2ND of 7 at the C&D looks very good to do well here.

ALL GUNS FIRING
Not a bad effort on his All-Weather debut when 4TH of 8 here, also yard debut.
More can be expected from this one having been a £120,000 yearling.
Career best when 3RD to MONITOR CLOSELY in October of 2008 by 2 1/2L.

AVEN MAC
Jockey booked C Catlin had won this event the last two seasons.
He rode a NH horse to win this in 2008, AVEN MAC ran over hurdle lto.

LINGFIELD - Race 2

ANT MUSIC
Unable to last the 1m 141y trip at Wolverhampton lto but drop back to 7 suits.
His Thirsk 4TH has worked out well with the 3 in front able to win since.
That was three runs ago and it was his last try in a maiden race.
Handicap lto, Class 2 Nursery penultimate run, rivals definitely weaker here.

ABHAR
Liked it here more lto than when raced at Kempton on debut.
He was slow away but finished well to get into 6TH of 12 runners over 6f.
There was money for him that day opening around 14-1 and touched 8-1.
With jockey Robert Winston in the saddle this time, expect to improve.

OCEANS EDGE
Debutant that cost 46,000gns and half-brother to high-Class STRIKING AMBITION.
Trainer J R Boyle did well last month winning 6 of their 28 runs.
He also has this track for most wins last year with 19 wins (from 92, 21%).

SOUTHWELL
13:10 Bet In Running - Betdaq Maiden Fillies' Stakes (3yo+, Class 5, 6f, 8 runners)

AMBROGINA
Beaten just a head at this course over 1m last time out.
Worth to trust the trainer with the drop in trip, he's won 3 of his last 4.
Trainer M Botti with his last 11 runs have 5 wins with 7 in total won/placed.

FREDDIE'S GIRL
2ND to ELATION by 4 1/2L at Lingfield last time out.
She had MNASIKIA, SININGINGNTHERAIN and LEAVING ALONE in 3RD, 4TH, and 5TH.

LINDY HOP
Career worst in her only start here when beaten 14 lengths, 6TH of 8.
That was on her yard debut and was better lto when 5TH of 11 by 7 lengths.
Consistent for W R Swinburn, likely to progress more for trainer K A Ryan.

haha...yea, it'll get better once the time moves up again and there's more light, that extra hour helps a lot and the UK moves up their schedule later in the day too. It's only in the winter time when they have races at Noon or less (uk time).

Always behind on debut and just pushed along late last time out.
Can be third time lucky if connections decide to ask him for more today.

MONTEROSSO
Johnston and Fanning has a good C&D record in maidens here.
Johnston won 4 of 7 C&D maidens in 2009, all with Fanning on board.
Since 2008, the partnership have 8 wins from 17 runs at the C&D with maidens.

DREAM WIN
Juddmonte Farms Ltd bred OASIS DREAM colt bought for 10,000gns in October 2009.
Well related being a half-brother to QUIFF and dam a 1,000 Guineas winner.
A SELKIRK damsire had produced some good runners for the sire OASIS DREAM.
The list has MAIN AIM, MONITOR CLOSELY, FIELD OF DREAM and YOUNG IVANHOE.
All are winners with DREAM WIN the only one left to boost the pedigree.
Now makes his debut for trainer B Ellison who's had 3 wins from the last 5.

ALBERTUS PICTOR
Debutant that is bred and owned by Miss K Rausing.
Her record as an owner at the track the last 5 seasons is 7 wins from 19.
That is most wins at any tracks the last 5 seasons for her.
Trainer Sir Mark Prescott does well here, 21% strike rate since 2006, 23/109.

LUMINOSA
Trainer D Donavan had a good maiden win at Lingfield 4 days ago.
With the exception of trainer B Ellison, others are winless the last 2 weeks.

ZERZURA
5TH of debut but should improve plenty from that now with T P Queally booked.
Being trained by H R A Cecil, the jockey switch looks very promising.
Also well supported in the market on debut being sent off the 11-8 favorite.

CHANROSSA
Well bred Galileo filly who's been 2ND in 4 of her last 6 starts.
Last four runs at this C&D results in four 2ND placed finishes.
Ahead of ZERZURA last time out by 5 lengths.

NATIONAL MONUMENT
6TH lto in a Wolverhampton handicap from 3 months off.
Running for the out of form J A Osborne but J P Spencer is booked.

13:20 Bet In Running - Betdaq Maiden Stakes (4yo+, Class 5, 1m 3f, 10 runners)

ASK THE ORACLE

Failed to last the 1m4f trip at Lingfield last time but was well backed.
4TH of 13 in 10f Handicap on penultimate run.
Career best came at this course over 1m in October three runs ago.
With the last two in Handicaps, this return to Maiden should work out well.

LINGFIELD
13:30 Marriott Hotel Opening Spring 2010 Median Auction Maiden Fillies' Stakes (3-5yo, Class 6, 7f, 6 runners)

EMMA JEAN LASS

Disappointing in her last two runs but the return of P Doe looks promising.
He was on board her trainer debut getting into 3RD of 12 last month.
The next two was without him and only able to beat one runner.
She's by CHOISIR and a SADLER'S WELLS mare with her 3RD birthday in 3 days.
She is the oldest in this field by 2 1/2 weeks and up to 4 months.
With this being a Fillies' race, her maturity may just give her an edge.

NOBLE JACK

Stayed on without threatening the leaders here last time out, 5TH of 13.
That was in 2008 for R Hannon and was consistent in tougher events.
Long break can be overlooked with this being a Class 6 maiden.

OCEANS EDGE

Debut 4TH 12 days ago was promising and just slow into stride,
Given he gets a better start, may just be hard to beat.
He's a half-brother to STRIKING AMBITION, runner up in Prix de l´Abbaye.

LINGFIELD
13:10 Golf And Racing Maiden Stakes (4yo+, Class 5, 1m 4f, 8 runners)

ALHAQUE
Previously ran in the colors of AUTHORIZED but failed to win for two trainers.
Now, with G L Moore he's not likely to have lost any of his skills.
Ran 2ND in his last two at 12f at Kempton and 14f at Goodwood in October.
Should be fit because Moore had a maiden win yesterday from 456 days off.

BUXTED
Unraced 4yo but does come from trainer T G Mills who wins plenty here.
J Fanning is booked and he's been a jockey to follow in maidens this year.
BUXTED is bred well being sired by DYNAFORMER and a DIESIS broodmare.
The breeding has 4 winners out of 5 progency.
The DYNAFORMER and DIESIS connection on debut has a form of 21221

Trained by J R Fanshawe who's found plenty of success from a limited try here.
Since 2006, he has 6 wins from 20 runs at the track, 30%.

DAWN STORM
Third in two starts last month at 17f and 14f.
Progressed well last year and should get into this with R Winston booked.

PAINTBALL
Going well after two starts getting into 3RD at Southwell and Wolverhampton.
Sired by the late LE VIE DEI COLORI means more progress on the surface.
He was only beaten by BURGHLEY and DUELLIST last time out.
Always prominent and was able to finish well for the first at the 7f trip.

BRAVALTO
Best effort came on soft ground in penultimate run at Doncaster in November.
Poor effort at Wolverhampton after that but a run here looks suitable.
Yard is in form and their runner looks best to beat all but one.

UNDERSTORY
Debutant from the Johnston yard sired by FORESTRY and Grade winning dam.
This contest looks very weak with the experienced runners very opposable.
MAJOR MAXIMUS comes from a trainer and jockey combo that do poorly here.
Trainer Peter Grayson does not do well in maidens and has a debutant.
SWEET AVON have finished 8TH of 11 and 9 in her two career starts.

GREYFRIARSCHORISTA
Beaten 1 3/4L on debut last August and 2ND on AW bow 12 days ago.
Beaten by The Queen's HIGH CONSTABLE lto with 5L to spare from 3RD.
He did nothing wrong in that race and a similar effort should be good enough.
There should be more improve being sired by KING'S BEST.

INTO WAIN is an interesting US bred debutant having cost $70,000 (yearling).
Related to plenty of winners including Royal Lodge winner MUTAAHAB.
Owner Ahmad Al Shaikh in maidens have 5 wins from 24, just 2 from 8 in others.
J P Spencer is booked and he rides well for the owner and trainer D M Simcock.
The trainer jockey combo have 5 wins from 21 the last 5 seasons.
They have won 2 races from 5 runs for the owner.

13:55 Enjoy The Lucky 7 Group Offer Maiden Stakes (3yo+, Class 5, 5f 20y, 9 runners)

TEXAS QUEEN looks best with the booking of Joe Fanning based on her last run.
She was speedy early until giving up 2ND last in the race, first at 5f.
With Fanning usually doing well with front runners, it is a good booking.
Taken into account he is instructed to have her run just like last time.

IL FORNO had been off since October but I think can go fresh.
Debut went well in May being 2ND to SHAKESPEAREAN.
Not build too much off that but should go well here based on last year’s form.

SLAP AND TICKLE is a debutant that had a price tag of 150,000gns as a 2yo.
Then, bought for 6,000gns at Newmarket in July last year.
Now a 4yo, interesting being raced in this class.
Trainer S C Williams books Andrea Atzeni who has 3 win from 8 for him.
