Does anyone have a list of Rachael and Zenyatta's Beyer or BRIS race by race numbers for 2009? I would cast my vote for Rachael as HOY unless these numbers told another story.

I believe Rachel's Beyer in the Haskell was the highest of any North American horse this year.

RA was definitely was faster in her races up to 9F, but I don't think she could have won the Classic even if it was on the dirt.

Figures be damned. These 2 would just run as fast as they needed to get the job done.

I suspect there would have been a lot less jockeys anxious to be a part of the pace if Rachel was in the field on dirt.

I can't take anything away from either Rachel Alexandra or Zenyatta, but (being the quantitative type that I am) if only one can be Horse of the Year, it's seeing the side-by-side comparison of their Beyers that tips the balance in my thinking for Rachel Alexandra.
