Last night Dec 26 at Woodbine the total pool of the Super was $21556 and the payout was $19858.70. They took out only $16973.30 which works out to only 7.87% of the total pool. I thought that the takeout at Woodbine was 26.3% for supers.

Can someone out there explain this anomaly.

They took out only $1697.30 and not $16973.30 as stated above.

They post the $2.00 payout to make it sound more impressive although no one hit it for $2.00.

There were eight (8) dime superfecta tickets sold and each one paid $1985.87, which means the total returnable pool was $15,886.77 and the takeout from the total pool of $21556 was indeed 26.3%.

They don't have dime supers at Woodbine. The minimum is 20 cents.

Bill the payouts at Woodbine are for $1 for supers.

As far as I am concerned there were 5 tickets sold for 20 cents each and the payout for each ticket was $3791x5=$18955.

So they did pay out $18955 out of a total pool of $21556 and that still does not explain the low % takeout.

So they had 1 ticket @ $0.80 that took down the pool - it still works out correctly.

Sheesh!

All this chatter about the take-out and nary a mention of Travis Alexander and the horse ;)

So there were 4 20cent tickets. Same thing.

Travis Alexander is one of the real good guys in the sport. He deserves any bit of success he gets.

Travis had an Uncle (Frank) that was a superb horseman for many years in the Detroit area.

I've heard from many that Travis is a very nice human being.

Good trainers are more important to me than a good driver and Travis is one hell of a trainer with a win % of 20.

Bet Daddy Mac on Dec 26 W/P and a good return of $60 to win and $30 to place. His last line (on Dec 19) on paper is very deceiving and would make you think that Daddy Mac had the classic 2 hole trip from the 5 hole to score a win but if you watch the replay he actually made 3 moves in the race. Very rare for a harness horse to make 3 moves in a race. The caller even said and I quote " Daddy Mac has made multiple moves in the race and still has some wind in his sails"

Way to go Travis.

I bet this horse too! $10 across the board! I was happy as hell! Sorry for red boarding but I had to comment on this when I saw I wasn't the only one...

You divide the total paid out money ( $19858.70) by 5 to get the money for each 20 cent ticket which in this case it is $3971.74

Now divide 19858.70 by 3971.74=5

As far as the calculation goes there were 5.. 20 cent tickets sold and not four.

Maybe I will write to the Woodbine people for an explanation.

Sea

You divide the total pot after takeout by the number of winning 20¢ tickets, not 5, to get the 20¢ price. In this case 4 winning tickets is the number that works out right. Mark is right, wish I had 1 of those tickets....:)

Thanks Mark, Bill and Ray.

I guess you guys have the right answer after all.

A very happy and prosperous new year to all of you.
