It is almost as if she has a 6th sense about the crowd. She is like an actor on stage; she puts on a show.

I don't know if you have had the pleasure of seeing her in person. I did at last years BC and I will tell u she is everything you said and more. My daughter went again this year and got a tour of Sheriff's barn. She got to feed and pet Z and Life is Sweet Sunday. Life is Sweet likes aloe juice. Good for her nervous stomach. An experience of a lifetime. I can't say enough about Sheriff's and his employees. Truly one of the classiest organizations in all of sport.

I was at this year’s BC, but I didn’t get as close to Zenyatta as your daughter, but viewing her in the paddock it was easily to see her marvelous antics and what a physical specimen.

Some horses, like people, just have a presence. It's the same with stage and screen actors. Not something developed, but rather part of "who they are". Z has that in spades. Whether you think she's a great racer or not, the personality is just magical.

She is a great racer which is validated by her last mile time of the BC Classic in 1:33.92 seconds which is faster than both Raven Pass and Ghostzappers’s last mile times in their BC Classic wins. Also, I think her 23.320 last quarter-mile is the fastest of any BC Classic winner.

Jerry Moss is not one of my favorites but John Shirreffs sure is. It was a fitting tribute to a fine mare with a personality as well as a killer finishing kick. Don't expect another any time soon. Happy retirement and motherhood black mare!

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of that, but it would be nice if you could take the "I think" out of your last statement. I wouldn't be surprised if that was true. I always wondered why they never stretched her out. I never saw anything from her that didn't tell me that the longer she went the better she would be.

I will check all 26 BC Classics and publish the final quarter times. Also you are correct about the farther she runs, the better she gets because off of her BC Classic performance she projects a 1-1/2 mile in 2:25.356 for a final time. I believe had she been entered, she would have won both the Personal Ensign and JCGC.

the last run is everything on poly. the one good thing about that surface is that it does reward the horse that can run the fastest. parceling speed over a distance is not a good strategy on the surface.

I heard her pre-race defacation before the Classic was the fastest ever as well.

Comparing Polytrack final times to dirt over the years at different tracks quite possibly reaches the depths of terrible analyses.

The connections know the fans want a Z vs Rachel race, they can have as many ceremonies they want, but they'll always be known as the owners who ran away from a big challenge. They'll be known as the owners who had a great horse, but found a way to keep her in a safe haven. Maybe Jackson will be known as the same type of guy. In order to duplicate another Affirmed v Alydar we need a perfect storm and that includes owners who aren't frightened of a challenge. Where's Charles Howard when you need him. People who were racing fans in the 1930's got to see owners who weren't scared, not so more in today's society. Same thing with boxing, these boxers today don't hit each other like they used to, its all about bobbing weaving dancing ducking and avoiding.

Not only was it the fastest, it's also edible and smells like roses.

I thought that was called good footwork and reflexes...part of developing yourself as a great boxer. :) It's not just about the "blows". Like fencing isn't about being stabbed.

I see nothing wrong with participating in a sport and taking precautions not to end up brain damaged or dead.

The Pro-Ride Classics come in at 1 and 3. Hmm, couldn't be related to the surface, could it?
