I did this once before and didn't do so well...started up again recently when inspired by Endlesspicks.com and have fared well in my NBA handicapping forays as of late.

Feel like posting them today to see if that kills my luck (as it usually does... )

1) Raptors -7.5 & Under 203.5

2) Celtics -825 & Over 195
3) Jazz +6.5 & Under 207

Now, the horse player side of me says that betting $825 to make $100 is insane, but this page on the web says otherwise when the home team is favored by 11.5 and you like the favorite:

I can't believe you picked the Pistons. They were missing everybody, and the Thunder already beat them in Detroit. ;)

Tough to handicap NBA when the hardcourt is an artificial surface....

sometimes a sporting event with 2 teams are tougher to pick than a horse race with 12 entries. thats the way i feel about it, maybe others are better than me. i stopped picking sports since 1978. i think i had 2 real big years in '75 and '76 betting on of all things hockey!

I stopped checking after the Celts, now I am begging you to stop :)Seriously, it wasn't that bad of a night...I went 7 for 16 (I pushed on one of the O/U)...in fact, it came down to the Mavs losing in OT and losing the under in the Golden State game that led to a down day...those two go the other way and I have a profit for the night...

So, as far as bad days go, this wasn't as bad as ya'll are making it out to be...

I saw you lost 8-1 on Celts and figured you got clobbered.

I saw you lost 8-1 on Celts and figured you got clobbered.Thoretically, if I were going to bet real money on these games, I would be betting a flat % of bankroll on each play...so I wouldn't have gone hog wild on that game even though the odds were horrible.

What do you think about this article:

http://www.statfox.com/statfoxnews/news~articleid~5719.htm

I had the Celtics winning that game 114-100 and the spread was -11.5. Normally, I wouldn't play a game where my spread differs with the actual spread by less than 5 points.

But, according to that article if you like the Celtics in that spot, you should play the money line...

-825 sounds absurd though...

As you can tell, I'm still new at all of this stuff...

Interesting article. But I would never lay 8-1 on anything. There is no edge in the NBA, maybe some calendar games but even if you handicap by schedule its a grind. And if you must watch these games do yourself a favor and tune in for the last 2 minutes only.

College hoop different story, you can find edges, especially on totals.....

Bulls were only up 35 points with 8 minutes left in 3rd quarter only to lose the game to the Kings
