Ruffian was already the next coming. She whacked everyone and set records in every race. Shame she broke down in that race. We'll never know.

Landaluce was very young, but scary what could've maybe been.

Nice to see Danseuse on there, because she is rarely ever mentioned. Not sure if she belongs on a list with some names like that, but she was very good.

this list includes many sires that have passed on their penchant for injury to their sons and daughters. which is why tracks can't fill a race. unless its a 5k claimer!!!

Indeed, he could have been one of the one's...but, he was as unsound as they come...and he's been passing that on to his progeny since his first year at stud.

Absolutely....he was gettin' freaky good when he broke down...I can still recall that horror...very few trainers were working horses that morning.....dogs up, the track was a disaster....that colt shoulda stayed in the barn on that fateful morning... still ticks me off :faint:

Big Brown... if his feet would of held up. And did not get shinned by Guadalcana coming out of the gate bending and ripped his shoe almost off. Would of been it. :faint:

love all the people talking up this horse; HTF was one of the first horses I really liked as a kid, and I was really saddened when he couldn't race any more...his name was very cool.

Lost in the Fog, another with a great name, proved himself, but he may have been one of the all-timers if not for his cancer.

Lastly, Star of Goshen had a great amount of ability, but EPM derailed her.

Yeah, I think HTF has been forgotten to some extent, unfortunately. He might have broken the TC drought a couple of years before that other horse came along.

Here's a link to one of the best short pieces on horseracing ever written ...

For all of you that skipped over the above post and didn't read the article it links to, you owe it to yourself to go back and do so. It wasn't hyperbole to say how good the article is. Makes you wish War Emblem had won the TC.

I wish the "offer that couldn't be refused" was never put forth by Baffert and the Arab. It could have been a great story if Frank Springer/Russell Reineman could have keptWar Emblem to the end.
